On the second day there were splits in our group of 11 about what to do. The other school wanted to rent scooters in the morning and then float down the river on bamboo boats. Our group did not like the look of traffic, and we wanted fish pedicures, so we chose to split up for the day and do our own things.

Super tall ice cream cones the evening before. Wish we spoke Chinese, because we wanted the pink ice cream, but it wasn't ready. Maybe the guy was trying to tell us it would be ready in 10 minutes, but we didn't know to wait...

We all fell in love immediately upon seeing the mountains the first day, but I didn't get good pictures til day 2.

We hiked Moon Hill, which is 800 steps, according to the sign. These tiny old women were crazy enough to hike up with coolers to sell us cold drinks. I swear we saw one at the top and bottom, so they must have had an elevator to beat us without passing us...

Regan is the best travel buddy: always positive and excited about what we are seeing and doing. So obviously she couldn't stop raving about the mountains, but really, can you blame her?
We found a guy to drive us to Moon Hill and back. A little pricy, but it was quite the experience! It was basically a motorcycle with a cart for carrying people around on the back. And because it was so small, we rarely drove on the road...mostly the shoulder, along with all the scooters and bikes.
No one is afraid to get really close while driving. And there is no right side of the road, if you can fit without making other people stop or wait for you.
Tiny and rickety. But good for photos, if you are fast.
Regan and I went exploring after we got back and found the riverfront beach. So many people, and there were more later in the day.
It's little scenes like these that remind me: people are people, couples are cute, and babies will always love swimming naked.
We did get fish pedicures. The fish biting your feet tickles a lot... Allies initial face about sums it up.
I thought it was funny when they brought their children to share the fish tank. So cute!
There are so many people! I loved it and kind of wondered what they were all doing in Yangshuo. Shopping? Sight seeing?
Partying in the camoflogue bars? Seriously I walked this street about 5-6 times, but I didn't recognize anything by the time the sun went down. Everything becomes a bar at night!
We walked around and people watched and shopped a lot. My roommate Regan is a fiend at bargaining. She would ask prices for random things, just because she was curious, but because she wasn't interested in getting it, she would walk away and they would end up slashing the price in half, or more. But I could go do the same thing and they wouldn't do that for me. But she could get deals for other people as well. I'm shopping with her from now on! Hopefully that works in our city markets as well. :)
